The
method offered and developed by Dr. Goshkoderia uses a well-known principle of change
of a human body form under constant effect of certain forces. We shall remind of
curved legs of a horseman, when his legs gain "O" - figurative deformation from
constant efforts to explain operation of this principle for inexperienced readers. The
same principle is viewed in pathogenesis of some diseases when excessive development of
some groups of muscles results in deformation of a part of a skeleton. The same principle
is used when plaster is applied to treatment of orthopedic diseases. But such
plaster does not create an effort, it only fixes status which was given by the
orthopedist.
In an offered method
self-correcting corsets (bandages, splints, tutors) are used and the TiNi-alloy (titanium
nickelid) units are built-in. TiNi-alloy units have such qualities as shape memory and
superelasticity. As the memory of the shape is set to these units they create the strictly
dosed directed effort. Actually self-correcting corset fulfils a role of additional
external muscular frame. The set effort is not great. It does not disturb the patient and
does not cause any pain. But due to persistence of the effort the amazing result is
achieved.
As a rule such corrector has zones of
the increased mobility, therefore freedom of joints movement is not limited. The
functionality of the limb is saved. Thus the patient can continue to move as he did before
setting the corset. The degree of violation of blood circulation is easily
controlled by using such a corset. It is easy to provide appropriate care for the
skin, massage and other procedures. The parents can dress and remove the corset
without the help of medical staff.
As each case is individual the
simulation of a corset construction should be done only by skilful orthopedist who has
necessary knowledge on physics of shape memory metals and abilities for designing.
Obviously
the development of such a self-correcting corset has become possible due to close
cooperation with the scientists - physicists. See the preview of superelastic shape memory
materials.
